PEAS AND MANGO SMOOTHIE
Green peas in a smoothie?!
Yes, don’t knock it until you try! This smoothie is rich in protein, vitamin C and many essential vitamins and minerals. Read up more on benefits and nutrition of peas here– it’s pretty impressive. It packs in a couple of portions of green veggies and a decent amount of fiber, which will make our bellies happy. Turmeric adds extra antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Tip: This isn’t a super sweet smoothie, so if you’re not used to zesty/ green style smoothies, you may find that you need more sweetness. If that’s the case, add 1 date, a teaspoon of honey or a sprinkle of stevia. Or simply try to enjoy the taste and train your taste buds for less sweet smoothies!
Ingredients
1/2 cup green peas
1/2 cup mango, fresh or frozen
large handful of fresh spinach
1/4 banana
1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1/2 tbsp nut butter
splash/ squeeze of lemon
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp turmeric + pinch of black pepper (or 1 curcumin tablet)
water, ice
Method
Add all the ingredients into a blender, together with a glass lot cold water. Blend it all up and add more liquid, depending on desired consistency.
